A Classroom Beneath the Trees
Gene and Sue Lamb Elementary School began in 1987 when a small group of children gathered for lessons under the shade of a tree in Obong Ntak. What started as a simple literacy effort soon became a place where children learned to read, write, and hear the message of Christ.
With support from Gene and Sue Lamb of the Mt. Morris Church of Christ in Michigan, a small building was renovated into a schoolhouse. Their friendship with Dr. Moses Akpanudo helped lay a foundation for Christian education that continues to bless children and families today.
Growing Through Faithful Support
As enrollment grew, Gene and Sue Lamb Elementary School moved in 1993 to its current three-acre campus, with access to electricity and clean water. Classrooms were added, teachers were trained, and a full Nursery through Primary Six curriculum was developed with a commitment to both academic learning and Christian formation.
At a time when early-childhood education was limited in Nigeria, the school helped provide a strong foundation for young children in Obong Ntak. Today, it continues preparing students to read, write, think, grow in character, and begin their education in an environment shaped by faith.
